September 26, 2010 by greatcatsby
I was living the hard life on the streets, but I’m one of the lucky ones now. I’m counting on you to help me help the others. Come have some fun at the Great Catsby event and help support the humans who rescue, treat, and find homes for my extended family. THANK YOU.

United Animal Nations
September 23, 2010 by greatcatsby
While many of the world’s political leaders collaborate this week at the United Nations, many of this area’s compassion leaders collaborate this week at United Animal Nations. What a relief to know that when animals face crisis, the 12 paid employees and more than 3,000 volunteers of the Sacramento-based United Animal Nations are ready to take action. The Great Catsby takes great comfort not only in the work of United Animal Nations, but also in knowing that these people are among our neighbors.
On their website United Animal Nations states that their mission is “to bring animals out of crisis and strengthen the bond between people and animals through emergency sheltering, disaster relief services, financial assistance and education. UAN accomplishes its mission by engaging volunteers and supporters, collaborating with others and maximizing the use of online technology.”
To learn more about United Animal Nations visit their website and sign up to receive their newsletter and action alerts.

Treasures: Trends-n-Treats
September 21, 2010 by greatcatsby
In the 1920s a cat’s status could be seen easily in his clothing and his car. In the 2010s things have changed; cats have left clothing and cars as status symbols to humans. We cats have come to the realization that we all have status, making status symbols obsolete. And as creatures of great status, we all deserve to be pampered. This is why The Great Catsby shops at Trends-n-Treats in Fair Oaks. Sure other stores are closer, but none offers the level of service and pampering that Trends-n-Treats does. Where else can I drop in for a massage after a grueling session with a catnip mouse? And where else could I possible find such a fine selection of gourmet cat food? There are so many reasons to like Trends-n-Treats, if only to enjoy watching German Shepherds being forced into embarrassing little Halloween costumes. Ahhhh, life is good.
I first heard about Trends-n-Treats when I read this article on Sacramento Cat Rescue Examiner. Check it out for more information. Then go to Trends-n-Treats and see for yourself!

Cats of Compassion
September 20, 2010 by greatcatsby
Dogs have their Lassie and Benji. Humans have their Dalai Lama and Mother Theresa. But cats? Our compassion is a private thing; we tend to keep it to ourselves. Most of the time us cats work behind the scenes, or you might see us listed simply as “anonymous donor.” There are two of our kind that work out in the open though: Tori and Scratches.
What do you mean you haven’t heard of them?
Tori and Scratches are on the front line everyday: they work with dogs. They don’t do this for themselves, but rather to protect other cats. They work with a great organization called Homeward Bound Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary, and you can read their story in Sacramento Cat Rescue Examiner. The work done by Homeward Bound is phenomenal, probably because Tori and Scratches are there to lend a helping paw. Find out more about Homeward Bound and Tori and Scratches by reading the article noted above.
